Arab League backs Sudan against genocide charges

I think it would be important for the Arab League to remember that the ICC investigation in Darfur, and all resulting arrests, warrants, actions...ect, are mandated by the United Nations Security Council. By doing so, the Council confirms the fact that the Sudanese Judicial System either does not have the capacity to properly judge the Darfur atrocities, or that it will be unwilling to do so. The SC resolution legally obligates Sudanese authorities to cooperate with the court. Their refusal to do so underlines their unwillingness to seek justice for these crimes. If they believe so firmly in their innocence, let them defend themselves before the ICC. The Court has shown, with the Dyilo case, that a fair trial is paramount within the principles of the Court.
Before this group of 22 Nation States decides to advocate too much for a president who has allot to answer for, they should remember that out of the ~195 countries of this world, 139 support the ICC and that 100 of these countries have applied its Statutes into their own national laws. Not to mention the fact that 15 Islamic States support the ICC. Under which agenda is the Arab League acting here? What we must really ask ourselves is; what does the Arab League stand to loose if an arrest warrant is delivered against Bashir and he is subsequently removed as President?[b]
